Make-up removal: 5 mistakes not to make again
One of the golden rules in beauty is to remove make-up from your face. Yes but how ? What are the gestures to favor, or on the contrary the mistakes to no longer commit? Axelle Dersin, beauty consultant and make-up artist in Paris gives us all her pro tips.
1/ Rub… and therefore attack
Especially around the eyes. It is better to apply two cotton pads well soaked in two-phase make-up remover or micellar water on each eye for a few seconds. This allows time for the material to dissolve without attacking the mucous membrane. Then gently tap the eyelid before removing the last traces of mascara by sliding the cotton gently around the eye contour.
2/ Choosing the wrong formula
More than gel, oil or micellar water, cleansing milk is the most comfortable texture for removing makeup effectively and gently. Especially if you wear a lot of makeup. Provided you use it well: you first put the milk in the palm of your hands before gently massaging your face with your fingertips to loosen the material. Then remove the excess with a cotton ball, taking care not to rub too much at the risk of irritating the skin.
- What do we shop on the site? Caresse de Neroli gentle cleansing milk for the face. Ultra-gentle, it dissolves blusher and make-up without rubbing and leaves a silky, light impression on the skin.
3/ Rinse with tap water
Because it undergoes chemical sanitary treatments, tap water is often far too calcareous for our skin. As a result, it dries out, irritates and attacks the skin barrier. The trick? Spray yourself with floral water in the evening, after removing make-up or in the morning when you wake up. A few sprays are enough to sweep away residues of make-up remover, excess sebum or even dead cells secreted during the night. Thermal water is also perfect for removing the last residues.
4/ Neglect the lips
The disadvantage of waterproof or long-lasting formulas is that they are difficult to remove. To overcome stubborn pigments, after removing make-up, apply a generous layer of day cream or lip balm, leave on for 5 to 10 minutes and then gently roll a cotton swab over the lips so as to eliminate the last traces of pigments and dead skin. You can also introduce this operation once a week in your skincare routine for a light home peeling effect.
5/ Abandon the neck or the bust
Because these areas are just as delicate and prone to skin aging as the face, we consider integrating them into our make-up removal routine; especially if you are a fan of bronzer, tinted or glittery oils. The right move? Massage with a cleansing milk the neck and décolleté with circular movements, starting in the center of the chest, before extending towards the shoulders, neck and chin. We remove the excess with cotton, before spraying a little floral water and finishing by applying alternately every other day a night cream or a mask with hyaluronic acid on the whole area.
